Welcome to the Hawk Defense: 20 years later and Aikido still rocks

Welcome to the Hawk Defense: 20 years later and Aikido still rocks:  It seems like yesterday, my daughter was born and I was balancing a life of fatherhood and work.  Working in sales, this took most of my w...

Brief Note...

Last night's show was again pleasantly crowded. We have enjoyed crowded conditions for many occasions this year and are so grateful to the many folks who keep turning out to catch our act. It has been so much fun getting to know each of you (by name) and your families. We love being there for you and hope to continue this personable connection that we've cultivated together so early in this fledgling season.
A great big Smile to each of you!

New Season (2015)

It is great to finally get back out and get some Musicosophy going.
We have a lot going on this year and there are a few changes. First, due to the Town of Graham's ban on amplified music, we will no longer be at our favorite haunt (Grill and Soda) on Thursday nights. We do, after all, use amplifiers. However, we will be at the Grill on Friday nights, instead; or at least every Friday night that we can be there.
The second item includes a more extensive and farther reaching schedule, this year (stay tuned for details; we are already booking dates).
And the third item is the continued introduction of new material into our repertoire; both standard and Original. We're very excited about this in all it's possibilities and expressions.
So lots of good changes and we look forward to sharing them with you.

Ras Stumproot at the Mineola Plant

We have an interesting story about the Mineola Plant (the Cone Mills Building that Gibsonville Antiques is located in) and it seems that the Original Musicosophy band already has a connection there.
You see, back in 1975, when our singer and front-man Mr. Jambone Stumproot hisownself was about 17 years old (give or take) he was working with a construction detail that was doing some modifications to the structure and, being the youngest and most nimble, was assigned to clamber up the really scary scaffolding and break a hole through the thick concrete walls with a pneumatic chisel (jack-hammer). Ras Jam relates that as he got to the top, the entire scaffolding structure began to sway this way and that and that operating the jack-hammer cradled in his arms did nothing to stabilize the tower.
Ras Jambone is still plenty nimble to this day and you can catch some of his fancy antics as he entertains you at the Gibsonville Antiques Shop (located in that very building) this Sunday (7/27) from 2:30 to 4:30 pm. The energy is good and it is free of charge and open to the public. Myra Burkhead, the proprietress, is collecting canned goods for the Food Bank so bring a few staples for the needy when you come. One Community- One Love! See you there.

Busy week coming up

It was great to see everybody again last night at the Grill and it was pleasantly crowded. We will not be there this coming Thursday, (7/24), but hope to return again pretty soon (please stay tuned).

We’ll be at Gibsonville Antiques and Collectibles on Sunday  afternoon (7/27) from 2:30 to 4:30. This Event is free of charge (tips/donations) and open to the public.
We'd love to see you there!

July Festival in Downtown Graham, NC

It’s 60 degrees this morning and all the birds are singing. I’m quite sure they’re preparing for July’s big Festival in downtown Graham, NC. This will be some of the finest NC weather that we’ve had all year.

The Original Musicosophy Band is really excited to be playing tonight at the corner Grill. Various members have been on vacation in the past month and tonight we will reunite for the first time to play together with all of us there. While it was kind of fun to see what we could do with various configurations of our entire crew, it will be extra nice to have everyone here with us not only to share in camaraderie but also to get back to those special sounds we all bring to the mix and have come to rely on.

So come on down and join the fun, get some entertainment and some food and be part of our reunion celebration on this gorgeous July evening at the town-square in Graham, NC.

Details: 6:30-8:30 Thursday evening 7/17/2014 at 22 NE Court Square Graham, NC (on the street corner in the center of town) inside Graham Soda Shop and Grill. The food is great and the entertainment is free of charge to the general public.

Dale’s daughter made this way too precious video of the place from her own perspective… “we  have parties almost every night; sometimes a party of ten will just drop in without callin’ ahead…” and “they try not to hire little boys who hit on all the little girls.”
